Johnson Building Intern Housing

The Johnson Building (left) is located adjacent to The Heritage Foundation
In the summer of 2003, The Heritage Foundation expanded its operations by opening the Johnson Building for the purpose of providing short-term living accommodations to interns associated with its Young Leaders Program. The housing is open to Heritage interns, interns working for organizations aligned to the mission of Heritage, and conservative interns working in Washington D.C. The Young Leaders Program offers work experience, educational programs, and training experience to Heritage interns and those living in the Johnson Building, through evening programs and seminars.
The Johnson Building is located adjacent to our Capitol Hill headquarters, on Massachusetts Avenue, NE, two blocks east of Union Station. The building contains 27 studio and one-bedroom apartments, each apartment provides housing for two or three interns based on the size of the unit. A resident advisor(s) lives on each floor of the building and 24-hour onsite security personnel staff the building. The building includes an on-site, coin-operated laundry facility, fitness center, library and floor lounges. Each room is fully furnished and includes amenities such as cable television, high-speed internet, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher (see below for complete list). Click here for additional pictures of our facilities.
By opting to live in The Johnson Building you will enjoy the privileges of living with other young conservatives during your time in Washington D.C. and you will be able to participate in evening reading groups, lectures, and forums. Please note, that during your stay you will be associated with The Heritage Foundation and must abide by established conduct rules and policies (see Housing Guidelines).
