Applications should demonstrate strong research and writing talents, excellent communication skills, and the inquisitiveness to undertake various research, writing, administrative, and computer projects.
Academic Year Internships
NEW APPLICATION DEADLINES!
***FALL- JULY 15*** | SPRING- NOVEMBER 1
Fall (Tuesday September 2nd or Monday September 8th through early December) and Spring (January- May) internships are mostly part-time, and require a commitment of at least twenty- four work hours per week. During the Fall and Spring, Heritage will accept approximately 30 interns.
Summer Internships
Monday, June 4th through Friday, August 10th
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1st
Summer (June- August) internships are full time (40 hours per week). The Heritage Foundation accepts approximately 60 interns during the summer. Since this is the most competitive time of year to obtain an internship in Washington the deadline is February 1st.
Internship Requirements
Summer applicants must be rising college juniors or older; fall and spring applicants must be college sophomores or older. Recent college graduates and masters-level students are encouraged to apply, as well as international students who are authorized by the INS to be employed in the United States.
Application Process
To apply for an internship at The Heritage Foundation:
1. Complete the online application.
The online application includes: a current resume, a writing sample explaining your ideology and a statement of interest explaining why you would like to intern at The Heritage Foundation.
2. Mail an official transcript directly from your university AND two letters of recommendation from college professors or employers to the following address:
