Location: The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium Nuclear power is emerging as a solution to America’s energy concerns. Despite its impeccable safety and environmental record as well as its potential to transform America’s energy profile, questions still remain about the viability of a broad expansion of nuclear power in the United States. One of the last questions for many Americans about nuclear energy is what to do with the waste. To the surprise of many, other countries already have programs in place to deal with their spent nuclear fuel and the United States could do the same. Indeed, the United States once led the world in such technologies. Join us as our expert panel discusses America’s past experience with nuclear fuel recycling, what other countries are doing today, and how a comprehensive fuel cycle program in the United States might work.
