THE KATHRYN AND SHELBY CULLOM DAVIS INSTITUTE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDIES

The Institute for International Studies conducts research and publishes papers on international politics and economics and national security issues; convenes working groups; organizes lectures, debates, and luncheon discussions; as well as conducts briefings on timely foreign policy and defense issues for members of Congress, their staff, and the media. The Institute also includes two distinguished research areas: the Asian Studies Center and the Center for International Trade and Economics (CITE).

Recent major projects include: the publication of the Index of Economic Freedom, a quantitative analysis and ranking of economic freedom in over 160 countries; From Tragedy To Triumph, Principled Solutions For Rebuilding Lives and Communities, an important post-Hurricane Katrina analysis; DHS 2.0: Rethinking the Department of Homeland Security, a highly regarded plan to increase DHS effectiveness; and Defending America: A Plan to Meet the Urgent Missile Threat, which advocates the rapid development and deployment of effective missile defenses.
